The AudioQuest Tower is a 1.5 m analogue audio cable with 3.5 mm stereo plugs at both ends, made to link a portable source to a hi-fi system. It uses solid Long-Grain Copper conductors and cold-welded, gold-plated terminations. Sold as a single cable carrying both stereo channels.
Solid Long-Grain Copper against distortion
Stranded wire lets the individual strands interact and colour the sound. A single solid conductor removes that effect, and Long-Grain Copper has fewer oxides and grain boundaries than the OFHC copper used in ordinary cables.
Metal-Layer Noise-Dissipation blocks RF interference
A conventional shield drains the interference it catches into the system ground, modulating the very reference the signal relies on. The added metal layer absorbs and reflects most of the RF energy before it reaches the grounded layer, which matters most when the cable runs near power supplies and routers.
Foamed-Polyethylene insulation preserves dynamics
Any material touching a conductor absorbs energy and releases it later as distortion. Foamed polyethylene is mostly air, so absorption stays minimal and the dynamic contrasts of the recording survive intact.
Cold-welded, gold-plated plugs
Conductor and plug are joined under high pressure instead of solder, one of the usual sources of distortion in a cable. The gold plating keeps the contact surface free of oxidation through repeated plugging.
