Nickel-plated steel over a hex core
The wound strings use nickel-plated steel wire wrapped around a tin-plated hex-shaped steel core. The shape locks the wrap in place, so tuning holds up under hard picking and frequent bending.
Clear highs from tin-plated carbon steel
The plain strings (.009, .011, .016) are specially tempered tin-plated high carbon steel. They balance evenly against the wound .024w, .032 and .042, giving consistent output across the whole neck.
