The Dyson Airstrait HT01 straightens hair with high-pressure airflow while it dries, instead of pressing it between hot plates. It works on towel-dried hair and refreshes a finished style between washes, with a colour LCD screen and a PRCD safety plug.
Straightening with air, no hot plates
Air is projected downwards at 45° through both arms, creating the tension that aligns each section between the tension bars. Hair takes its shape as the moisture leaves it, with no pressing between heated surfaces.
Two modes: wet-to-dry and dry touch-up
Wet mode offers 80 °C, 110 °C and 140 °C depending on hair type. Dry mode runs at 120 °C and 140 °C with an extra Boost, while Cool mode sets the finished look.
Hyperdymium motor spinning at 106,000 rpm
A 13-blade impeller moves 11.9 litres of air per second and generates up to 3.6 kPa of pressure. That is enough force to dry and smooth a section in a single pass.
Intuitive airflow and auto-pause
The straightener senses when hair is between the arms and drops to low airflow when it is not, for quieter and more efficient styling. After three seconds without movement the airflow pauses and restarts as soon as you move it.
Locking arms for root volume
A slider locks the two arms together so the machine works like a compact dryer at the roots. Once the roots are pre-dried, you unlock the arms and work section by section.
PRCD plug and temperature control
Glass bead thermistors in the arms check airflow temperature up to 16 times per second. The supply plug houses a portable residual current device: press TEST and RESET before every use.
