The HERTZ DSK 170.3 from the Dieci line is a two-way car component speaker system with a 170 mm woofer, a 24 mm dome tweeter and an outboard crossover. The kit covers two doors and runs either off a head unit's built-in power or an external amplifier. With 93 dB SPL sensitivity it plays loud even on modest power.
Component layout for a real soundstage
The tweeters mount independently of the woofers, on the supplied cups at the A-pillar or flush in the dashboard. Voices and detail arrive from ahead and above you rather than from below your knees, as with coaxial speakers.
V-cone diaphragm for a clean midrange
The woofer uses water-repellent pressed paper that copes with the damp inside a door panel. The cone profile widens dispersion, so detail survives when you sit off-axis rather than straight in front of the driver.
Neodymium tweeter with a PEI dome
The PEI dome reaches 23 kHz and handles cymbals and strings without harshness. Surface and angled cups are included, letting you aim each tweeter towards the listener's head.
Outboard crossover cutting at 3.5 kHz
The filter splits the signal at 12 dB per octave and keeps low frequencies away from the small dome. The housing hides behind the door trim or under a seat.
DIN sizing for factory openings
The 165 mm frame drops into a 140 mm cut-out and needs 45 mm of depth, matching common European and Asian door locations. The basket carries an abrasion-proof finish and the terminals are tin-plated for a solid connection.
